Rooster Davis specializes in the New Orleans piano traditions of players such as Dr. John, James Booker, and Professor Longhair, playing a swampy, NOLA style blues and funk. He and his band, the All Stars, are known for their high energy performances featuring soaring horns and second line rhythms.
Rooster Davis has toured Western Europe four times, Australia three, and extensively in Canada. He has appeared in many festivals such as; Edmonton International Jazz Festival, Medicine Hat Jazz Festival, Lethbridge Jazz Festival, Beaumont Blues Festival, Kitchener Blues Festival, and the Calgary International Blues Festival.
His latest release, For Saints and Sinners, won best blues album, Edmonton Blues Society, nominated for Blues Album of the Year, Edmonton Music Awards, and his band, the Rooster Davis All Stars, won best band for the Memphis Blues Challenge in Northern Alberta. Rooster Davis and the All Stars will get your feet tapping and your tail feathers shaking as they play the music of the Big Easy, the home of blues and funk.
In addition to leading and fronting the Rooster Davis Group, Rooster Davis is a renowned freelance keyboard player. He has recorded with producers such as 10-time Grammy Award winner Joe Chiccarelli, John Whynot, and Hawksley Workman. He is the musical director of Canadian gold platinum selling country artist Adam Gregory, and Rooster also regularly performs with award-winning roots artists such as Ridley Bent, The Dungarees, Jay Sparrow, Jay Gilday, and many more.
