Artist Biography

The Black Velvet Show Band is a celtic and rock band comprised of Mark McGarrigle, Wayne Allchin, Lyle Hobbs, and Dwayne Scheeler, as the 4 leading principals, plus a rhythm section.  They came together over 4 years ago, and brought with them each over 30 years of experience in the music industry.  The band plays original songs, as well as classic celtic and rock songs throughout the Edmonton area pub scene, as well as the casino circuit.

Mark McGarrigle plays guitar, trumpet, whistles, and is the lead vocalist of the group.  Mark's career in the Edmonton club scene has spanned many years.  He has been the house act in many of Edmonton's most popular sing-a-long clubs since they were introduced in Edmonton back in the 80's.

Wayne Allchin is an all-star guitar player and adds the rockier element to the group along with his harmonies.  Lyle Hobbs is also a lead singer and plays the harmonica plus guitar.  Dwayne Scheelar joined the band to make a strong core of musicians providing his talent on keyboards and adding another dimension of vocals.

This band features 4 vocalists plus multi instruments.

With a young, aggressive rhythm section consisting of Mark Bouwman and Ryan Frampton, the Black Velvet Show Band is a force to be reckoned with and a popular and favorite Edmonton-based Celtic band.
